Transcript of President Barrack Obama’s speech on Russian Aggression in Ukraine:

Transcript of President Barrack Obama’s speech on Russian Aggression in Ukraine:

Related: Russia Invades Ukraine. BREAKING NEWS

“Over the last several days, the United States has been responding to events as they unfold in Ukraine. Now, throughout this crisis, we have been very clear about one fundamental principle: The Ukrainian people deserve the opportunity to determine their own future.

Together with our European allies, we have urged an end to the violence and encouraged Ukrainians to pursue a course in which they stability their country, forge a broad-based government, and move to elections this spring.

I also spoke several days ago with President Putin, and my administration has been in daily communication with Russian officials. And we’ve made clear that they can be part of an international community’s effort to support the stability and success of a united Ukraine going forward, which is not only in the interests of the people of Ukraine and the international community, but also in Russia’s interests.

However, we are now deeply concerned by reports of military movements taken by the Russian Federation inside of Ukraine. Russia has a historic relationship with Ukraine, including cultural and economic ties, and a military facility in Crimea. But any violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilizing, which is not in the interests of Ukraine, Russia or Europe.

It would represent a profound interference in matters that must be determined by the Ukrainian people. It would be a clear violation of Russia’s commit to respect the independence and sovereignty and borders of Ukraine, and of international laws.

And just days after the world came to Russia for the Olympic Games, it would invite the condemnation of nations around the world. And indeed, the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.

The events of the past several months remind us of how difficult democracy can be in a country with deep divisions. But the Ukrainian people have also reminded us that human beings have universal right to determine their own future. Right now, the situation remains very fluid. Vice President Biden just spoke with prime minister — the prime minister of Ukraine to assure him that in this difficult moment, the United States supports his government’s efforts and stands for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and democratic future of Ukraine.

I also commend the Ukrainian government’s restraint and its commitment to uphold its international obligations. We will continue to coordinate closely with our European allies. We will continue to communicate directly with the Russian government. And we will continue to keep all of you in the press corps and the American people informed as events develop.

Thanks very much.”

You really must see the new Castle Land Project, “Hard Rock Art Factory” (http://HardRockArtFactory.com). What a concept they have created. They are using a concrete statuary to finance and build a medieval castle with festival grounds. It is intended to be a place for artists, musicians and other “creative types” to gather and work on new things. The Hard Rock Art Factory is planned as a way to finance the project, and Hard Rock Art Factory will sell big Fountains, birdbaths, statues and all kinds of garden art. They seem to have about 1000 concrete products, and a large concrete factory in Longview, Washington, and another site in Portland, Oregon. Word is they are looking for a retail spot in Seattle, Washington as well.

So see  http://HardRockArtFactory.com if you are looking for great hand painted garden art, a fountain, a new statue for your foyer, a Zen rock garden for your patio, or just a simple birdbath, remember that you are supporting the arts when you trade with the Hard Rock Art Factory. US Opens Oil Reserves, Oil Falls

By Jamie Dupree

In a surprise move, the Obama Administration today announced that it would open U.S. strategic oil reserves, and release 30 million barrels of oil in coming months, in a concerted effort with other nations to try to depress the price of crude oil.

The announcement – which comes as gasoline prices have been falling – was made this morning by the Energy Department.  Here is the news release that was sent to reporters:

Department of Energy to Release Oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve

Washington, DC – U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced today that the U.S. and its partners in the International Energy Agency have decided to release a total of 60 million barrels of oil onto the world market over the next 30 days to offset the disruption in the oil supply caused by unrest in the Middle East.  As part of this effort, the U.S. will release 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).  The SPR is currently at a historically high level with 727 million barrels.

“We are taking this action in response to the ongoing loss of crude oil due to supply disruptions in Libya and other countries and their impact on the global economic recovery,” said Energy Secretary Steven Chu.  “As we move forward, we will continue to monitor the situation and stand ready to take additional steps if necessary.”

The United States has been in close contact with oil producing and consuming countries about disruptions to the international oil market that could affect the global economy.  The situation in Libya has caused a loss of roughly 1.5 million barrels of oil per day – particularly of light, sweet crude – from global markets.  As the United States enters the months of July and August, when demand is typically highest, prices remain significantly higher than they were prior to the start of the unrest in Libya.

The Administration will continue to consult closely with other consuming and producing countries in the period ahead.  The decision today is intended to complement the production increases recently announced by a number of major oil producing countries.  The United States welcomes those commitments and encourages other countries to follow suit.

Are You Being Gouged at the Gas Pump?

A new taskforce focused on fraud in energy markets will look into whether consumers are being gouged at the gas pump on gas prices or traders are manipulating the markets,

Tuesday U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder told the House Judiciary Committee., “To the extent that there are inappropriate attempts to manipulate the markets, that there is price gouging, other things of that nature that have had a devastating impact on average Americans …. that will be the focus of this task-force,”  while cautioning that there are “market forces that are at work and I don’t want to oversell what it is we are doing”.

The task-force group includes representatives from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Reserve Board, Securities and Exchange Commission and the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Justice and Treasury.

The task-force held its first meeting on Monday behind closed doors.

Holder claims this is a “serious effort” by prosecutors to find possible violations of criminal or civil laws.

Chevrolet Volt -111 miles per gallon-Time is NOW!

Chevrolet Volt runs on a combination of gas and electricity and averages 1,000 miles per full tank of fuel.  (Source General Motors ( GM ).

The Volt has a 9.3-gallon gas tank and drivers can expect to average 111 miles per gallon, requiring most drivers to only fill the tank once a month, says the automaker.

One fully-charged battery powers the Volt for about 35 miles. Then the gasoline engine kicks in, but only to generate electricity which is a much more efficient way to propel a car.

The time to go electric is now folks! Please don’t let another day go by without an electric car.
